What a great loss of a friend and artist. Harpoon Barry was so talented in many ways. Even though, I didn't agree with his tattoo philosophy, he and I were just kids going to church when we first met. I remember visiting him and his wife in Port Isabel at his shop several years back on a surfing trip to South Padre. His hair was in little braids. He endured many hardships. How sad that he was among those who perished in the Queen Isabella tragedy!
Barry died in what would have been huge story of a bridge collapse but it was right after Sept 11, 2001 so it made little headlines. He was rough around the edges but very talented and good natured whenever he saw an old friend.
