Thanks, Leah, for caring to reach out to all of us. I am employed at San Jacinto College, central campus in Deer Park-maybe retiring next summer. My family is doing fine; however, I still miss my husband who passed in 2012. Staying busy with work, pets, and family is keeps me going. Hope all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and a blessed holiday season. Patricia  Burnham (Hoggard).

We had a great Thanksgiving in Central Louisiana.  Bill and I fed 19.  His Mom and stepdad, 3 of our 4 boys and their families.  We found out another grandbaby will join us in June which will bring us up to 10.  I was most thankful as the Saturday before Thanksgiving Bill had a heart attack.  After being widowed at 36 and again at 55, I was very thankful that God spared Bill a little longer.  A simple heart cath and stent had him back on his feet within a couple of days.  He was back out building a deer stand with 15 year old twin grandsons the week of Thanksgiving.  God truly is good all the time.

Spent today at Dickens on the Strand with a friend. She fell ill and went home so I walked around by myself for a while. Ran into Laura Mullins Higgins and her husband and visited for a few minutes. Met up with an old friend of Laura's and Susan's and Cynthia's and Sonya's and mine from Houston I haven't seen in about 45 years. Spent the rest of the day talking and catching up with her... Seeing the sights.... And catching up on some more things. Besides both being quilters, Margaret and I found we have so much more in common.. books ...history.... traveling..... mutual friends in long retired rock and roll groups. It was so good to see and talk to her. Hope we can keep
in touch And visit again. Also hoping I can talk her into joining me on the quilt cruise in April

Sunny, blue skies and 50's in Bayou Vista. My dog went out and saw her shadow today. I hope that means that winter is over! I've had enough of the cold and wet. Wishing all my class and no-class a happy and healthy 2015.

Judy I know your dog and she cant see a shadow laying down, unless it was coming off of her food bowl. But if you scratch her back she will tell you summer is here or any thing else you want to hear. I hope your right but I think we are going to have to wait until March for the Monsoons and winter to leave, but its still warmer than Oklahoma. So I think I will stay in Texas a few more years,I may never be a Texan but I will keep on trying y'all.

Wow.  This has been a crazy winter for just about every one, regardless of where you live.  Colorado has broken record lows and record highs, both in the same winter.  Bryan, I cannot imagine what the northeast has endured this year.  Everytime I hear about another storm hitting that area, I just cringe.  And Larry, you are probably the most northerly classmate.  Alaska has its share of beauty and also harsh winters.  But I have to admit, 30 degrees in Texas is mighty cold; that humidity just cuts right through the warmest of coats.  Wouldn't we all be bored if we didn't have this variety in our lives?

Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter.  I am so excited I am not scheduled to work that weekend; our church always has the most wonderful services!   Beverly

Hey Bev, good to see your post on the board.  Wondered how the CO winter had gone.  We had a pretty mild winter in the Anchorage, punctuated by VERY cold spells.  The rest of the state was pretty normal, cold to very cold.  The area where our cabin is located was 30 to 50 below most of the winter, and got a lot of snow, with 3 feet still on the ground, as of last weekend.

Every time we'd get a warm spell in Anchorage, the cold would all go south and to the east coast.  Man, they got hammered.  We were jealous of all of the snow that they were getting ;)

Brian, hope you had some good ski's for your crazy winter.

And, you're right Bev, 30 deg (above) in south TX is COLD.  When we first moved up to Alaska, we traveled back to TX for Christmas one year.  I brought my Arctic gear down, to show everyone what we wore.  A blue norther passed through, and I wore my gear, and felt like I was freezing.  The humidity just killed the insulating ability of the goose down.  Then, when we went home, the goose down had soured, and stank so badly that I had to trade it in :(  Honest!  That's no Texas story.

It seems that a person can get acclimated to to the dry cold up here, but don't think it's possible to get acclimated to the wet cold on the TX gulf coast.

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter, and spring.

Cheers,

Larry D.
